We are looking for a Senior Quality Technician to join our Nuneaton-based Technical team. At PROPER SNACKS, the Technical team are the tastemakers and gatekeepers of quality and food safety, ensuring the most delicious products are ending up in our snackers’ hands.

As a PROPER Senior Quality Technologist, you will operate as an integral part of the site’s quality & technical team based in the Nuneaton Snacktory. The role will report into the Quality Manager. You will have an active, ‘eyes wide open’ presence on site to report incidents or issues that may put product safety, quality or legality at risk and take suitable actions. You will support and coach the QA team to ensure we are sending out amazing snacks that our consumers know and love. This role is a Monday to Friday shift on an 8am-5pm basis.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching and support of the QA team
  • Maintain and ensure adherence to QA compliance checks
  • Deputise for Quality Manager where required
  • Ensure full implementation of factory-based site audit plan to improve standards and encourage an audit-ready everyday approach
  • Ensure adherence to factory hygiene standards and cleaning sign-offs
  • Lead decision making and resolution for non-conforming material and on-hold stock; weekly review of open holds to ensure close-out
  • Support and coach factory teams to ensure full understanding and adherence to factory standards; represent Technical in factory tier meetings and support Gemba activity
  • Drive right first time
  • Support factory preparation for 3rd party and customer audits and visits
  • Involvement and technical support with factory improvement projects and complaints/hold reduction initiatives
  • Completion of GMP and Hygiene audits and support with action close-out
  • Support with development of site food safety culture
  • Management and coordination of site calibration schedule
  • Ensure full implementation of site environmental monitoring schedule (swabs, water, hand swabs)
  • SME for factory technical systems and equipment
  • Ensure information needed for generation of reports is recorded accurately and in a timely manner
  • Meet data reporting commitments for the business to ensure full visibility and flow of information (Daily KPIs, Weekly KPIs, Operations Scorecard, Monthly Hold Reports)
  • Review and analyse data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Drive Red zone implementation across all areas for completion of QA checks
  • Review and verify red zone data to ensure compliance

Requirements

  • Quality assurance experience ideally within a food manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of GMP and basic food safety principles
  • IT literacy (MS Office, e‑mail, Excel, smart device apps)
  • Good communicator with strong spoken and written skills
  • Good numeracy skills, ability to work out averages, percentages, etc.
  • Diligent with good attention to detail
  • Team player to work collaboratively
  • Strong influencer to build good cross‑departmental relationships
  • Reliable and flexible ‘can do’ attitude
  • Food Safety, HACCP (Level 2 Qualification) – desirable
