Continuous Improvement Specialist – Manufacturing

We’re looking for a CI Specialist to join our Continuous Improvement (CI) team at PROPER Snacks. The CI team is all about making things better, faster, and smarter – from packing efficiency to product quality. This role is critical in making sure our snacks are packed to perfection and our operations are continuously evolving to support innovation and excellence.

This person will be a curious, hands-on problem-solver with a passion for efficiency and quality. They’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with teams and external partners to deliver standout results. Motivated by progress and process, they’ll be driven to find smart solutions and raise the bar every day.

The Role

This role is all about owning and improving the primary and multi-packing operations, from driving standards and safety to leading CI projects and supporting innovation across the business

Responsibilities

Improvements

  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across NPD and operational processes specifically packaging
  • Identify areas of inefficiency, waste, or quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Use Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to analyse and improve workflows, productivity, and cost-efficiency

New Product Development (NPD) Support

  • Work closely with R&D, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure smooth integration of new products.
  • Define and optimise baggers for new products, ensuring they are scalable and efficient.
  • Assist in the transition of NPD projects from concept to full-scale production, ensuring timelines and quality standards are adhered to.

Centre Line Definition

  • Develop and define critical packing parameters and centre lines for NPD and ongoing production to ensure consistency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Establish control systems, monitor bagger performance, and adjust centre lines as necessary to maintain product quality.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Innovation, quality control, supply chain, etc.) to align on packaging requirements and improvement goals.
  • Coach and develop packaging operators, building a culture of operational excellence
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating problem-solving sessions and sharing insights.
  • Work closely with OEMs to ensure equipment is maintained and downtime is minimised

Documentation & Reporting

  • Document process improvements and centre line specifications in clear and accessible formats.
  • Report on key performance metrics and bagger performance, providing recommendations for further optimisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards in process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and conduct regular risk assessments

Other Duties

  • Stay current with industry trends, process improvement methodologies, and technological advancements that could enhance operational performance.
  • Participate in NPD reviews and other meetings to offer expert insights and contribute to decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry (food preferable)
  • Strong understanding of primary and multi-packing operations (experience with TNA baggers, Yamato Checkweighers preferable)
  • Proven track record delivering CI projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Analytical mindset with a hands-on approach to solving problems
