We are looking for a shift-based Senior Operations Manager (SOM) to join our Nuneaton-based Operations team. At WARP, the Operations team is the heart of our manufacturing facility, bringing our amazing products to life and getting them into the hands of our snackers. The Person
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Shift-based Senior Operations Manager at our manufacturing site in Nuneaton. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of food manufacturing operations with a high level of financial acumen. They should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail are essential for success in this role.
The Role
As a Shift Senior Operations Manager, you will be responsible for several Front Line Shift Managers overseeing the daily operations of our food manufacturing factory during your designated shift pattern. You will work closely with your production teams, ensuring smooth processes and maintaining high-quality standards. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will play a crucial role in driving operational efficiency, optimising productivity, and fostering a culture of safety within the factory. You will also be responsible for developing improvement plans for designated processes across all shifts as the subject matter expert. This is a hands-on role that requires proactive decision-making and effective management of resources.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and co-ordinate daily production activities to achieve production targets and meet customer demands.
- Monitor and maintain quality control standards throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Lead and mentor a team of Front Line Managers (Shift Managers), ensuring a safe and productive working environment is maintained.
- Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely manner to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, logistics, and quality assurance to optimise workflow and resolve any operational challenges.
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring adherence to safety protocols, product specifications, and cleaning standards.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance, including efficiency, yield, and waste reduction.
- Train, mentor and motivate employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure adequate stock availability.
- Prepare reports on production performance, highlighting areas for improvement and recommendations for corrective action.
- Identify, through the use of Redzone, improvement projects and facilitate your teams to drive sustainable improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in food operations in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety, food manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing and developing teams.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using computer technology such as Redzone for data analysis and reporting.
- Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including nights and weekends, as required by the operational needs of the factory.
