Mortgage Compliance Assistant in Chester

Chester Full-Time On-site
Proper Advice Ltd

Proper Advice is a whole-of-market mortgage and protection brokerage based in Chester. We help first-time buyers, home movers, remortgage clients and landlords find the right mortgage, and make sure they're properly protected once they have it. We're a growing team that cares about getting things right for clients, and we look after every case closely from the first enquiry to completion. We also offer a 4-day working week.

Role Description

This is a full-time, office-based role in Chester. The work is roughly half case processing and half file quality. You'll support our advisers on the admin and compliance side of every case, getting applications onto lender systems accurately and quickly and making sure each file holds up from a compliance point of view.

Day to day you'll:

  • Key mortgage applications onto lender portals and packaging systems, checking the data against the fact find and supporting documents
  • Run Decisions in Principle (DIPs)
  • Prepare complete mortgage and protection files: ID and AML checks, income and expenditure evidence, suitability documentation and disclosure paperwork
  • Carry out pre-submission file checks so cases go to the network right first time
  • Take the lead on compliance queries from our network, getting what's needed from advisers and clients and closing points off within deadline
  • Keep case records up to date so anyone picking up a file can see exactly where it stands
  • Spot recurring issues in file reviews and feed them back so the same points don't come up twice

In return you'll get a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, a generous holiday allowance, and room to grow into a senior case management or compliance role as the business expands.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a mortgage administration or case management role within a UK brokerage or network
  • A good working understanding of the mortgage process, from DIP through to completion
  • Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with sensitive client documents
  • Confidence dealing directly with a network compliance team, and the persistence to see a query through
  • Strong organisation, with the ability to manage a live pipeline of cases and deadlines without things slipping
  • Clear written and verbal communication with advisers, clients and lenders
  • Comfortable working with digital client records and CRM systems (Salesforce experience is a bonus)
  • Knowledge of protection products and underwriting is an advantage
  • CeMAP or an equivalent qualification is an advantage but not essential
