We’re looking for a Multimedia Reporter to join our energetic and multi award-winning News team on a full-time permanent basis.
As the Multimedia Reporter, you will be covering the Essex area, reporting for the famous Greatest Hits Radio network and the Hits Radio network, as well as reporting into our other iconic brands such as Magic Radio, Absolute Radio and KISS as appropriate.
You’ll be first on the scene for breaking news, delivering vivid, engaging reports across radio and video. Calm under pressure, you’ll capture high-quality audio, craft compelling stories, and report with authority.
Strong editing skills and a keen eye and ear for detail are essential, as is the ability to build strong relationships with key figures and local communities. You’ll help ensure we remain the trusted voice of our area, sharing original, relevant stories with impact.
As an ambassador for the station, you’ll bring excellent people skills and support a positive team culture. Flexibility is key – news doesn’t stick to office hours.
This is a full-time position where you will work across the Essex area. You would either need to already be living in the patch or be happy to relocate.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sourcing, developing, and delivering breaking local news stories for radio, online, and social media platforms.
- Planning and producing compelling, locally relevant breakfast bulletin content with engaging audio/video.
- Reacting swiftly to breaking news and report live on location when required.
- Building and maintaining strong local contacts to uncover original and exclusive stories.
- Ensuring all content is legally sound, accurate, balanced, and Ofcom compliant.
- Editing and presenting bulletins, and supporting other news roles as needed across Bauer’s network.
- Collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a professional, positive working environment.
- Maintaining an up-to-date news diary and share weekly coverage plans with the news desk.
What You’ll Bring
- You will deliver reports with authority and integrity and have the passion and ability to react to breaking news and uncover original stories across the news patch, working across a range of on-air, online and social platforms.
- You should have a recognised journalism qualification, a full driving licence and will be able to work calmly and accurately, ensuring everything you broadcast or put on social media is legally sound, Ofcom-compliant, accurate and balanced.
- You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and experience of modern audio/video broadcasting platforms and how they can assist our teams in delivering news content to a wide range of audiences.
- You should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the kinds of stories which will resonate with our audiences.
