With more than 150 years of industry-leading experience, the businesses of SGS & Co and SGK are uniting to form SGX—a powerful force in innovative packaging production. We are looking for a Despatch Operative to join the team in Salford. This is a key role in the production function and in supporting an efficient and professional service to our clients.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Pack all final delivery goods with firm materials and the correct label with address and receiver.
  • Work using both SGK’s own system as well as various shipping company systems.
  • Make decisions to despatch jobs using the most cost effective, reliable & efficient methods.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility.
  • Work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Control both cardboard & wood recycling in the yard.
  • Keep a clean & tidy working environment.
  • Take in deliveries and put away various stock in the correct places.
  • Using company vehicles to deliver or collect from local companies (dependent on a full UK driving licence).

Skills and experience:

  • The role does include heavy lifting and a lot of manual handling.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a small team while also being self-motivated to work alone.
  • Good computer skills required.
  • FLT license advantageous but not essential (training will be given).

During the initial training period the hours will be 10am – 6pm. After the initial training, the successful applicant will be expected to work alternate shifts of 6:30am – 2:30pm & a flexible shift depending on workload, usually the latest finish would be 8pm.
