Account Director | Luxury Travel and Wellbeing PR
Lead an established luxury travel and wellbeing portfolio, work closely with the founders and help shape the future of a boutique PR agency.
I’m partnering with a boutique, senior-led PR and communications agency with a strong reputation across luxury travel, hospitality and wellbeing.
Their clients span luxury hotels and resorts, internationally recognised wellness retreats, conservation-led travel businesses and leading health and wellbeing experts. They’re also expanding into longevity, including a new brand launching resorts internationally.
The agency has grown organically through recommendations and relationships, with some client relationships spanning decades.
They’re now hiring an Account Director to take ownership of key accounts, strengthen media relationships and develop partnerships that connect clients with the right audiences.
And one of the biggest attractions? Real autonomy, direct access to the founders and genuine flexibility around working hours.
The opportunity
You’ll join a small, experienced team where senior people stay close to both the clients and the work.
You’ll have room to develop ideas, advise clients and make decisions, alongside responsibility for turning those ideas into results. Your portfolio will be shaped around your experience, relationships and strengths.
The role combines three areas:
1. Lead client relationships and strategy
You’ll become a trusted adviser to your clients, understanding their businesses, shaping their communications strategy and keeping activity moving.
From leading calls to navigating challenging conversations, you’ll have the confidence and judgement to manage relationships independently while keeping the wider team informed.
2. Build meaningful media relationships
You’ll bring relevant luxury travel and lifestyle contacts, alongside the curiosity and initiative to keep developing your network.
There’s plenty of scope to create stories across hotels, retreats, wellbeing, longevity and conservation, securing opportunities across relevant print, digital and broadcast media.
3. Develop partnerships and collaborations
Beyond coverage, you’ll identify ways to connect clients with relevant brands, private members’ clubs and networks.
The focus is on credible collaborations that reach the right people and create useful introductions, enquiries and commercial opportunities.
What you’ll be doing
- Taking ownership of client accounts, from strategy through to day-to-day delivery.
- Leading client meetings, providing advice and managing expectations.
- Developing compelling stories and securing relevant media coverage.
- Maintaining and growing relationships with luxury travel, lifestyle and wellbeing journalists.
- Getting out to journalist meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.
- Identifying brand partnerships, collaborations and opportunities to reach high-net-worth audiences.
- Working with junior colleagues while staying hands-on with pitching, follow-ups and reporting.
- Keeping priorities moving, anticipating issues and following through on agreed actions.
- Contributing ideas to help the agency and its clients develop.
Who would be a great fit?
We’re looking for someone with strong luxury travel or hospitality PR experience, established media relationships and the ability to lead accounts independently .
You might already be an Account Director, be operating at Senior Account Director level, or be an experienced consultant interested in joining a collaborative team.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience personally leading luxury travel, hotel, hospitality or closely related lifestyle accounts.
- Active relationships with relevant UK travel and lifestyle media.
- Confidence advising clients and handling demanding conversations.
- A hands-on approach, with a willingness to stay involved in practical delivery.
- Strong organisation and a reputation for following through.
- An understanding of affluent audiences and how to reach them.
- A warm, collaborative style and an interest in travel and wellbeing.
- The ability to attend London regularly for team days, meetings and events.
You don’t need a complete wellness black book. Strong luxury travel foundations and the ability to build new relationships are more important. Specialist wellbeing contacts, international media relationships and partnership experience would all be welcome additions.
Why this opportunity stands out
Established clients and interesting subject matter. Work across luxury hospitality, wellness retreats, conservation and health, with relationships built over many years.
Autonomy and access to the founders. Take responsibility for your accounts and contribute directly to decisions about the work and the business.
Flexibility within a collaborative team. Two days together in London Victoria, alongside flexibility around working hours and personal commitments.
Senior ownership with hands-on involvement. Stay close to the strategy, relationships and delivery, supported by experienced colleagues and junior team members.
Room to help shape what comes next. The agency is exploring a new sister business or PR operation, with potential for the right person to help lead it as it develops. Longer-term equity has also been discussed, although neither is guaranteed.
New business is rewarded. There’s an incentive for introducing suitable clients, but bringing a client book isn’t a requirement. The priority is excellent account leadership and delivery.
If you enjoy luxury travel PR and want more ownership, flexibility and influence within a small agency, I’d love to hear from you.
