I’m currently working with a leading international law firm who are looking to hire a Technology Solution Architect to join their growing Architecture function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected Technology team where architecture is central to the firm’s strategy. Technology is heavily invested in and plays a key role in enabling complex legal work, global operations, and ongoing digital transformation.
You’ll be joining a small, high-impact architecture team (3 people total) working directly alongside the Head of Architecture, with excellent visibility across both technical and business stakeholders. This role will suit someone who enjoys hands-on solution design, complex integration challenges, and working closely with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Communication is absolutely critical - you must be confident translating complex technical designs into clear, simple language for both technical teams and senior non-technical audiences.
The Role
As a Technology Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end enterprise solutions aligned to architecture standards, security principles, and business objectives. You’ll work across multiple domains including cloud, data, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and supportable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing end-to-end technical solutions across enterprise platforms
- Producing HLDs, LLDs, and architecture documentation
- Defining APIs, integration patterns, and data flows
- Working closely with delivery teams through build and implementation
- Ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and governance
- Supporting technology selection and build vs buy decisions
- Defining and validating non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience, security)
- Producing architectural decision records (ADRs)
- Engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across the business
- Collaborating with cloud, data, security, and engineering teams
Tech Environment
- Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, APIM)
- SQL Server
- Enterprise integration platforms & APIs
- CI/CD pipelines & DevOps practices
- Modern enterprise architecture tooling
- Experience with legal platforms such as iManage, Aderant, Intapp (or similar enterprise systems) is highly desirable.
What They’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in Solution Architecture, Technical Design, or Senior Engineering roles
- Strong integration architecture background (APIs, messaging, system design)
- Azure cloud experience
- Strong understanding of security, scalability, and resilience principles
- Experience in complex enterprise environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to clearly explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments
Desirable:
- Legal sector experience (preferred)
- Professional services or regulated industry experience (FS, insurance, consulting, etc.)
- TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework
- Azure certifications
- Exposure to EA tools (Ardoq, LeanIX)
- AWS exposure (beneficial but not essential)
Additional Information
- Hybrid working (2–3 days per week in London)
- Highly collaborative, high-performing technology environment
- Strong exposure to senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Opportunity to help shape architecture capability within the firm
- Open to candidates with longer notice periods for the right person
