12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

From this continued success we are now looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract, to allow us to continue our exciting growth plans. Our aim is to take the service we offer to the next level, to push the boundaries of what’s available, and to create great customer experiences consistent with our values.
Reporting into our Group Accounting Manager, you will work within the Accounting team, responsible for supporting with key business activities such as management accounts preparation, payroll and be responsible for key financial information to internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a keen and enthusiastic individual, seeking to extend and develop their accounting skills in a fast moving and dynamic environment, possibly working towards a recognised accounting qualification and with strong team working skills.
Role responsibilities
- This role encompasses a diversified mixture of core accounting and financial control(s), including but not limited to full accountability and supporting the finance team for:
- Month end and year end reporting cycle; including preparing and posting journals to the company’s ledger platform
- Annual external audit
- Balance sheet reconciliations and validations to supporting documentation
- Support with the wider team reconciliations where required
- Payroll administration; including pension compliance, other payroll adjustments, payroll delivery, submission to third parties, resolving payroll queries from stakeholders
- Sales Ledger monitoring and related activities
Additional responsibilities include:
- Support the Finance colleagues with adhoc deliverables and investigations of specific ledger items.
- Provide cover and assistance for the wider Accounting Team, including bookkeeping and general ledger accounting support.
- Undertake first line of defence routines to test the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Assist the finance department on finance and business led projects, driving a valued add contribution to the project or function.
Key skills required
- Practical experience in an accounting function
- Experience of operating strong financial controls
- Accounting Technician level (or equivalent)
- Actively studying for a professional accounting designation (Part qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)
- Financial services experience would be beneficial but not essential
