As a Head of Large Value Underwriting, you will set the standards to evaluate, analyse, and approve large value credit proposals, and the approach to revisions to underwritten transactions. You will maintain the portfolio quality through a consistent level of credit risk assessment ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
You will have underwriting authority across all core origination channels including banking partners, accounting partners, vendor partners, brokers, and direct to customer relationships.
The role holder will be expected to be a core voting member of Transactional Credit Committee (TCC) and will hold the highest personal underwriting mandate in the credit function and will be a member of Credit Committee.
Role responsibilities.
- Conduct detailed Credit Reviews and sanction Asset Finance transactions up to a personal credit underwriting mandate limit. This mandate will include hard and soft assets.
- As a key member of TCC and holding the highest personal underwriting mandate within the Credit function, you will set the standards in terms of approach to large value transactions, and ensure that origination and funding requirements are adhered to when agreeing to exposures.
- Set the standards / frameworks in respect of approach to large value transactions such that all credit officers underwriting such deals have a standard and commercial approach.
- Chair Watch Forum and participate in other appropriate forums.
- Have responsibility for reviewing and approving recommendations from Business Support and Collections teams in terms of actions on stressed assets including those in work-out and recoveries.
- Working alongside the Head of Underwriting, have responsibility for reviewing and recommending changes to Credit Policy in terms of risk appetite for asset classes & asset types, products, and terms of lending, particularly in relation to larger value transactions.
- Effective Stakeholder management and communication with Sales stakeholders – ensuring SLAs for deal decisions are managed.
- Financial analysis and credit report writing skills
- Knowledge of soft and hard assets
- Ability to understand Credit Sanctioning decision systems
- Cashflow analysis for larger transactions
- Asset Finance experience
