We're delighted to be recruiting an Accountant for a well‑established accountancy practice based in Market Harborough. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience who is looking to further develop their skills, gradually take ownership of their own client portfolio and grow within a supportive team environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- £30,000 – £35,000
- Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-4pm - 36.5 hour working week
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays

Duties and responsibilities:
- Preparation of year‑end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns using cloud‑based MTD‑compliant software
- Completion of personal and corporation tax work
- Bookkeeping tasks including posting transactions, maintaining ledgers and completing bank reconciliations
- Gathering client records, following up on missing information and resolving basic queries
- Maintaining accurate working papers and ensuring deadlines are met
Required skills and experience:
- Minimum Level 3 AAT qualification
- Experience within an accountancy practice in a similar role
- Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and UK accounting and tax requirements
- Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines
- Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
