We're building the next generation of insurance comparison for AI. We're a small, early‑stage company with experienced founders, and we're looking for our next engineer.
The role involves owning features end‑to‑end (front‑end, back‑end, and internal tools) with the CTO as your main collaborator and sounding board. Day one is hands‑on: shipping code, running experiments, and helping shape how the product evolves. Because we're small, you'll have real influence over technical decisions and the product direction.
This role is 2‑days per week in Cardiff and the first part of the interview process is a 30‑minute coffee with our CTO in central Cardiff. Please don't apply if this isn't viable for you.
A flavour of what the first few months might involve:
- Building a classifier that maps customers' free‑text answers to the structured fields insurers require
- Integrating an insurer API into our quoting pipeline
- Prototyping an LLM‑powered assistant to help customers understand policy wording
What we're looking for:
We care as much about how you think and learn as about your CV. If you're a strong engineer who's missing one of the must‑haves but excited about the rest, apply anyway and tell us why.
Must‑haves:
- Commercial experience with TypeScript across front‑end and back‑end
- Comfort working independently in a fast‑moving environment
- A degree in computer science, engineering, maths, or a scientific discipline — or equivalent experience that shows you can think rigorously
Highly desirable:
- Hands‑on experience building with AI / LLMs in production
- Exposure to regulated industries (insurance, finance, health)
- Early‑stage startup experience
Location: This is a hybrid role requiring you to be 2‑days per week in central Cardiff, so please only apply if that's viable for you on an ongoing basis.
