Join to apply for the Business Development Manager role at Promethean Particles. With the Nobel Prize shining a light on Metal‑Organic Frameworks, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team at the forefront of this technology. Are you a sales professional who thrives on bringing breakthrough technology to market? This is your chance to drive revenue growth for game‑changing materials technology that's set to transform multiple industries.
We've solved the manufacturing challenge for metal‑organic frameworks (MOFs) at industrial scale and cost‑effective pricing. MOFs are revolutionary materials with applications spanning water harvesting, biogas upgrading, gas storage, and carbon capture — but until now they've been too expensive to manufacture commercially. Our breakthrough changes everything. With our proprietary manufacturing process, we can now deliver MOFs that make economic sense for real‑world applications.
Having secured significant funding to scale our operations, we need a skilled business development professional to convert this technical breakthrough into commercial success. We're looking for someone who can identify prospects, build relationships, and close deals in emerging applications where MOFs deliver immediate value - particularly water harvesting, biogas upgrading, and gas storage.
The Role
In this role you will be responsible for building and converting our sales pipeline in high‑potential application areas. Working closely with the Commercial Director, you will focus on identifying, developing, and closing business opportunities that demonstrate the commercial viability of MOF technology in real‑world applications. You will be personally responsible for driving sales in applications where MOFs can deliver immediate value – e.g. water harvesting, biogas upgrading, and gas storage.
This is a hands‑on sales role where you'll be working directly with prospects and customers to understand their technical challenges and position MOF solutions as the answer. As an experienced sales professional, you'll thrive on selling solutions that aren't always clearly defined. You'll work closely with our technical teams to understand customer requirements and help shape product offerings that meet market needs.
This is your opportunity to use your sales expertise and technical understanding to drive the commercial success of breakthrough technology. You'll have real input into shaping how we take innovative MOF solutions to market, and the freedom to make a meaningful impact in ways only possible at an agile, innovative company.
Key Areas of Responsibility

- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, progressing opportunities from initial contact through to successful conversion.

- Collaborate with technical teams to develop proposals and solutions that meet customer specifications.
- Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and technical discussions with potential customers.
- Negotiate contracts and close deals, working with legal and commercial teams as needed.
- Provide market feedback to product development teams regarding customer requirements and competitive landscape.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to generate leads and build market presence.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director to refine sales strategies and identify new market opportunities.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in B2B sales, preferably within engineered services, advanced materials, or related technical sectors.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and building successful customer relationships.
- Degree‑level education, preferably in an engineering discipline (chemical, mechanical) or materials science.
- Experience selling technical products or services to engineering customers.
- Comfortable working with complex, evolving product specifications and customer requirements.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Self‑motivated with excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Experience working through complex engineered problems and developing creative solutions.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and commercial teams.
- Fluent in written and oral English.
- Proficient in CRM systems and standard business software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A supplementary business qualification (MBA, business degree) would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of MOF technology or related advanced materials would be beneficial but not essential.
- A right to work in the UK without restriction, as this role does not come with visa sponsorship.
