The Opportunity

We are supporting an NHS Trust in the West Midlands with the appointment of a Locum SpR in Plastic Surgery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced SpR to join an established Plastic Surgery service and contribute to the delivery of high-quality surgical care.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a full rota, supporting both routine and acute Plastic Surgery services throughout the assignment.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide SpR-level Plastic Surgery services as part of the Trust's established clinical team.

The role will include:

  • Providing clinical care across Plastic Surgery
  • Assessing and managing surgical patients
  • Supporting acute and emergency Plastic Surgery presentations
  • Participating in the full departmental rota
  • Providing appropriate out-of-hours and on-call cover as part of the rota
  • Working collaboratively with Consultants, junior doctors, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to theatre, outpatient and inpatient services as required
  • Supporting the assessment and management of trauma and other acute surgical presentations
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
  • Supporting safe and effective patient care
  • Participating in clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Appropriate Plastic Surgery experience at SpR level
  • Previous NHS Plastic Surgery experience
  • Experience managing acute and emergency surgical presentations
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to participate in a full rota
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient-centred care

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a UK NHS Plastic Surgery department
  • Broad experience across Plastic Surgery
  • Experience in teaching and supervision
  • Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
