The Opportunity
We are supporting an NHS Trust in London with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Glaucoma.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist to join an established Ophthalmology service and provide high-quality specialist clinical care to patients with glaucoma and related ophthalmic conditions.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary ophthalmology team, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective glaucoma services throughout the assignment.

The Role
The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Ophthalmology services, with a particular focus on Glaucoma.
The role will include:
- Assessment and management of patients with glaucoma and other ophthalmic conditions
- Providing Consultant-level clinical decision-making and specialist advice
- Conducting glaucoma clinics and reviewing patients as required
- Managing both new and follow-up glaucoma patients
- Undertaking appropriate ophthalmic investigations and interpreting results
- Developing and reviewing individualised treatment and management plans
- Performing relevant ophthalmic procedures within the scope of competence
- Working collaboratively with nursing, medical and wider multidisciplinary colleagues
- Supporting junior medical staff and colleagues where required
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
- Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
- Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred ophthalmic care
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Ophthalmology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
- Previous NHS Consultant-level Ophthalmology experience
- Specialist experience in Glaucoma
- Broad clinical experience in the assessment and management of glaucoma patients
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within an NHS Ophthalmology department
- Fellowship or additional specialist training in Glaucoma
- Experience managing a broad range of glaucoma presentations
- Teaching and supervision experience
- Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement
