The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Recruitment Consultant to lead and develop a high-performing desk within the locum doctors market. This role is suited to a commercially driven recruiter with a proven track record of placing medical professionals into NHS and/or private healthcare settings. You will take ownership of client relationships, candidate pipelines, and revenue performance within a fast-paced, compliance-led environment. You will operate with autonomy, supported by established infrastructure, robust compliance systems, and dedicated marketing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a specialist desk focused on locum doctors (Consultants, Specialty Doctors, SAS Doctors, Registrars, and GPs)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with NHS Trusts, private hospitals, and healthcare providers
- Source, screen, and place high-calibre medical professionals
- Negotiate pay rates in line with NHS frameworks and capped rate guidance
- Ensure full compliance with NHS governance and industry standards
- Build sustainable candidate pipelines and referral networks
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets
- Maintain accurate CRM records, reporting data, and financial forecasting
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Minimum 2 yearsβ experience in medical or healthcare recruitment
- Demonstrated billing success within locum or healthcare markets
- Strong understanding of NHS structures, workforce challenges, and procurement frameworks
- Confident negotiator with commercial acumen
- Ability to work at pace while maintaining compliance standards
- Target-driven, resilient, and relationship-focused
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
