As work continues to expand, ProMatch is recruiting an additional skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team based in Sutherland. The business is known for its commitment to responsible aquaculture, producing premium-quality salmon through low-impact farming methods across remote coastal sites. This hands-on role supports the upkeep, repair and safe operation of equipment across seawater, freshwater and vehicle assets playing a key part in maintaining operational efficiency, environmental compliance and fish welfare standards.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment, supporting both seawater and freshwater operations. You’ll also assist with moorings work, liaise with skippers and site teams, and ensure all vehicles meet MOT standards. This is a varied role requiring technical skill, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair machinery, boats, lifting equipment and vehicles to regulatory and company standards
- Support moorings work and liaise with site teams to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor and report equipment issues, working to agreed cost and performance targets
- Uphold Health & Safety, hygiene and fish welfare protocols across all equipment and facilities
- Promote environmental responsibility through waste management and equipment upkeep
- Participate in training, support new staff and cover out-of-hours duties (including weekends) when required

- Proven experience in equipment maintenance, ideally in marine or processing environments
- Time-served mechanical engineer with multi-skilled experience highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and environmental standards
- Practical, solution-focused approach with good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
- Professional, responsible attitude with a commitment to high standards

- Full driving licence and own transport
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and making a real impact across the business. The successful Engineer will work full-time hours, primarily Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support overtime – including weekends when required. In return, a competitive salary is offered based on a 40-hour week, with enhanced overtime rates of 1.5x the standard rate during weekdays and 1.75x at weekends. Accommodation is also available, making this an ideal opportunity for either a candidate living within the local area or one who is mobile.
