Ready to take the next step into engineering leadership? This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced hands-on Engineer or Engineering Supervisor who’s looking for their first management role within a supportive, values-driven aquaculture business. Based on a small site in Uist, you’ll oversee day-to-day maintenance, support a team sized at 1.5 FTE, and keep essential equipment running safely and efficiently. It’s a varied, practical role with real ownership - without the complexity or pressure of a large-scale engineering environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out and planning maintenance across site equipment, vehicles, vessels and lifting systems
  • Ensuring safe, compliant operations in line with company, MCA and Health & Safety standards
  • Supporting and developing a small engineering team, including training, planning and out-of-hours cover
  • Managing maintenance records, reporting and procurement for essential parts and equipment
  • Working closely with production, biology and environmental teams to keep operations running smoothly
  • Upholding environmental, fish-welfare and hygiene standards across all engineering activity

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in the work as much as leading it — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and practical problem-solving.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified mechanical engineer with strong practical skills
  • Experience as a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer or Supervisor
  • Someone ready to step confidently into their first management role
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • A clear communicator who works well across teams
  • A proactive, steady problem-solver

What’s on offer:

  • Negotiable salary aligned to the scale of the site
  • Enhanced overtime rates: 1.5x weekdays, 1.75x weekends
  • Accommodation available
  • A meaningful role in a respected aquaculture business
  • A lifestyle opportunity in one of the most distinctive locations in the Highlands

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering professional who wants progression, ownership and a role they can genuinely grow into — without needing to come from a large, complex engineering environment.
