Known for responsible farming, high welfare standards and a strong values‑driven culture, the business combines traditional craft with innovative, sustainable practices. This is a key leadership role with real ownership: overseeing site engineering operations, driving planned and reactive maintenance and supporting operational efficiency across both the processing site and, when required, remote sea sites.

The Role

Reporting to the Processing Director, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the engineering function, ensuring plant, equipment and infrastructure remain safe, compliant and operating at their best. You’ll lead a small team, shape maintenance strategy and play a central role in supporting production, hygiene and wider operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and support the engineering team, ensuring strong performance, engagement and capability.
  • Implement and maintain a robust planned preventative maintenance strategy, while managing reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all plant, equipment, systems and site infrastructure are safe, compliant and fit for purpose, including Health & Safety, Food Safety and HACCP requirements.
  • Manage engineering documentation, reporting, asset management and spare‑parts systems to ensure accuracy, traceability and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate engineering support for remote sea sites and external contractors, ensuring effective communication, scheduling and delivery of works.
  • Drive continuous improvement by working closely with production, hygiene and management teams to identify opportunities, resolve issues and enhance operational performance.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering or operational teams within a fast‑paced environment (manufacturing or food preferred, but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of maintenance management, asset reliability, problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
  • Qualified engineer (ONC/HNC/HND) with broad maintenance skills and a strong electrical bias, confident working across both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Competent with IT systems, including maintenance management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and build strong working relationships.
  • Safety‑focused, professional, adaptable and capable of operating in a dynamic environment while representing the business to internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll be self‑motivated, hands‑on and comfortable balancing day‑to‑day operational demands with longer‑term planning. You’ll set high standards, promote a proactive safety culture, and support the development of your team through coaching, training and continuous improvement.
