ProMatch is exclusively supporting a well‐established waste management and recycling business in Alness which is looking to appoint an experienced HSEQ Officer to support Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards across its operations. The company serves customers throughout the Highlands and Moray and continues to grow, combining the feel of a small, supportive team with the stability and backing of a major UK waste management group. The Role
As HSEQ Officer, you will take responsibility for day‐to‐day H&S governance, environmental compliance, ISO management and internal auditing. You'll work closely with the leadership team but will also be trusted to manage your workload independently and act as a competent person for HSEQ matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Oversight - Lead day‐to‐day H&S governance across the site, including incident and near‐miss reviews, corrective actions, toolbox talks, site inspections and supporting risk assessments. Act as the competent person for Health & Safety matters.
- Environmental Compliance & Reporting - Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, liaise with bodies such as SEPA and HSE, support pollution prevention and waste controls, and lead carbon‐emissions reporting, monitoring and environmental improvement projects.
- ISO & Quality Management - Manage the integrated management systems (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001), conduct internal audits, coordinate follow‐up actions, maintain documentation and prepare the site for external recertification audits.
- Customer & Supplier Assurance - Handle customer compliance questionnaires and audit requests, oversee supplier approval processes and maintain accurate compliance records to support consistent standards across the supply chain.
- Operational HSEQ Support - Maintain HSEQ registers, reports and performance data, work closely with the Managing Director and Site Manager on improvement initiatives, and contribute to a positive, safety‐focused culture across the site.
About You
Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Experience in H&S or HSEQ within waste, recycling, manufacturing or industrial settings
- Knowledge of incident investigation and corrective actions
- Experience with environmental compliance
- Practical understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and/or 45001
- Strong organisational skills and confidence working independently
Desirable
- Internal auditor qualification
- Experience in sustainability or carbon reporting
- Understanding of customer and supplier assurance processes
