Our client, a specialist contractor delivering major geotechnical and foundation works across the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes, is seeking an experienced Supervisor to support the safe and successful delivery of ground engineering works on site.

Reporting to a General Superintendent or senior site management, you will play a key operational role coordinating daily site activities and supervising construction teams across designated work areas, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to high quality standards, and in line with the programme. Working closely with engineers, construction teams, subcontractors, and specialist operatives, you will contribute to the delivery of technically complex geotechnical and foundation packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities across designated work areas
  • Coordinate site operations to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality requirements
  • Manage labour, plant, and subcontractor resources allocated to designated work packages
  • Monitor productivity and operational performance, implementing corrective actions where required
  • Support construction planning, sequencing, and temporary works coordination within live site environments
  • Report progress, issues, and production updates to the General Superintendent or senior management
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and shift briefings with supervised teams
  • Ensure compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality standards across all activities
  • Conduct daily site inspections and checks to ensure works meet specification requirements
  • Support implementation of RAMS and safe systems of work across supervised areas
  • Assist with incident reporting, hazard assessments, and corrective actions
  • Support development and coaching of site personnel and promote collaborative working

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Supervisor, Foreman, or similar operational role within major infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects
  • Strong track record supervising labour, plant, and subcontractor teams on live construction sites
  • Experience working within geotechnical, piling, ground improvement, or specialist foundation environments is highly advantageous
  • Proven experience within a Tier 1 or specialist contractor environment
  • Good operational understanding of heavy civil engineering and infrastructure delivery
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site coordination practices
  • Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements and safe working practices in live construction environments
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications
  • Valid CSCS card and relevant supervisory qualifications (e.g. SSSTS / SMSTS) advantageous
