Overview

Our client, a specialist contractor delivering major foundation and diaphragm wall works across the UK's largest infrastructure programmes, is seeking an experienced Grab Operator to support the safe and efficient delivery of works on site.

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of grab equipment, ensuring excavation activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and Health & Safety requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure environment and contribute to the successful delivery of technically complex geotechnical works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate mechanical and hydraulic grab equipment for diaphragm wall and deep excavation activities
  • Carry out excavation works in accordance with approved methodologies and project specifications
  • Monitor excavation depth, alignment, and verticality throughout operations
  • Support reinforcement cage installation and concrete placement activities
  • Coordinate daily activities with engineers, supervisors, and site teams
  • Identify and report operational issues affecting productivity or quality
  • Assist with maintaining production targets while ensuring safe working practices
  • Complete daily operational records and shift reports as required
  • Ensure all works are delivered in compliance with project quality, environmental, and Health & Safety standards
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report defects promptly
  • Maintain safe working practices around lifting operations and excavation activities

Experience

  • Proven experience operating grab equipment on diaphragm wall or deep foundation projects
  • Experience working within major civil engineering, infrastructure, tunnelling, or geotechnical environments
  • Strong understanding of excavation and lifting operations
  • Previous experience on large-scale infrastructure projects is advantageous
  • Good understanding of diaphragm wall construction methodologies
  • Knowledge of excavation quality requirements and safe working practices
  • Ability to identify operational and technical issues on site
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications & Certifications

  • CPCS / NPORS Grab Operator certification or equivalent - (essential)
  • CSCS Card (preferred)

Salary

Starting rate of £250 per day (negotiable)
