We’re recruiting a proactive and detail‑driven Goods In Technician to join a busy food manufacturing site in Burton‑on‑Trent. This is a temp to perm opportunity offering long‑term stability, structured training, and the chance to play a key role in maintaining food safety and quality standards across the site.
Shift Pattern
- Rotating weekly shifts:
- 06:00 – 14:00
- 14:00 – 22:00
Pay Rates
- Starting rates (pre‑training):
- Basic: ÂŁ12.55 per hour
- Overtime (over 40 hours): ÂŁ15.69 per hour
- Sunday OT (over 40 hours): ÂŁ18.83 per hour
- Basic: ÂŁ13.15 per hour
- Overtime (over 40 hours): ÂŁ16.44 per hour
- Sunday OT (over 40 hours): ÂŁ19.73 per hour
Primary Purpose of the Role
To ensure full compliance with HACCP, Quality Management Systems, GMP, food safety, hygiene standards, and traceability within the Goods In and Warehouse areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out internal audits including BRCGS, GMP, and Glass & Hard Plastic audits across the site
- Perform temperature checks on warehouse chillers, report deviations, and support retesting
- Check printed packaging for accuracy and escalate samples to the Quality Systems team when required
- Manage raw material intake and ensure compliance with specifications
- Sample and collate raw materials and finished products for laboratory analysis using aseptic techniques
- Support investigations into microbiological and nutritional issues, including data collection and tracking
- Promote a safe working environment by raising near‑miss reports and supporting HSE standards
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to embed a strong QA culture
- Support BRCGS certification and ongoing maintenance activities
- Contribute to HACCP compliance across all relevant processes
- Provide information and photographic evidence to support supplier complaints
- Physically place out‑of‑spec raw materials or finished goods on hold, update logs, and communicate with relevant departments
- Make decisions relating to product safety, quality, and integrity within remit, escalating when necessary
- Maintain product sample retention cages and ensure correct disposal of out‑of‑date samples
Scope of the Role
Daily quality assurance and food safety tasks across a complex site with five food processing areas. Project work as delegated by the QA Supervisor or senior technical management.

Essential
- Food Safety Level 2 or above
- Experience working in a food manufacturing environment
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and able to learn new systems
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive “can‑do” attitude
- Ability to plan and prioritise daily tasks effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels
