We are recruiting for a Skilled Machinist to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business operating within a modern, high-precision production environment. This is a structured site with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and team collaboration, producing critical components within a fast‑paced setting.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for setting and operating machining equipment within a designated production cell. Working as part of a team, you will ensure machines are set correctly, running efficiently, and meeting production and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate machining equipment for both yourself and other operators within the cell
- Carry out machining operations to meet production output and delivery targets
- Identify and report tooling or equipment issues promptly
- Maintain optimal machine performance and efficiency during production
- Ensure consistent adherence to quality standards and procedures
- Support 5S and TPM standards to maintain a clean and organised working environment
- Assist in reducing scrap and rework through collaboration with quality teams
- Work closely with manufacturing and maintenance teams to improve processes
- Support and mentor apprentices and less experienced team members
- Maintain a professional and proactive approach to work at all times
- Follow all health & safety procedures and respond to any risks or hazards
About You
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification preferred
- Experience with CNC machining or similar production machinery
- Strong setting and problem‑solving skills
- Good communication skills with the ability to work across departments
- Ability to support training and development of others
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
