Job title: Product Developer.

Location: Prolight Concepts (UK) Ltd, Edison Point, Regent Street, Colne, Lancashire, BB8 8LJ.

Salary: Circa £40,000 per year, dependent on experience.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Employment type: Full-time, permanent following successful completion of probation.

Prolight Concepts Group is looking for an ambitious, technically minded Product Developer to join our growing team and play a key role in taking products from initial concept through to market. The opportunity: As Product Developer, you'll be at the heart of our product strategy. From evaluating new ideas and developing prototypes through to testing, troubleshooting, refinement and launch, you'll take ownership of ensuring our products deliver where it matters most: in the real world. You'll work closely with Sales, Purchasing and Marketing, bringing technical insight into commercial decision-making and helping turn market opportunities into successful products. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, finding solutions and seeing an idea become a finished product.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading product development from initial concept through testing, refinement and launch.
  • Evaluating and quality-checking new and existing products to ensure they meet professional standards.
  • Conducting hands‑on product testing, fault‑finding and technical troubleshooting.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, reliability, usability and value.
  • Working collaboratively with Sales, Marketing and Purchasing to align technical development with customer and market requirements.
  • Providing technical product training and knowledge to internal teams and external partners.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and competitor products.
  • Helping maintain a competitive and forward‑thinking product portfolio.
  • Building strong relationships with manufacturers and development partners to drive product quality and continuous improvement.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A proven technical background within the event, entertainment or professional AV industry.
  • Hands‑on experience in product development, engineering, technical operations or a related discipline.
  • A strong understanding of one or more relevant areas, such as electronics, mechanical design, software integration, materials or product engineering.
  • Experience working within live events, production, theatre, broadcasting, installation or other technical environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a practical approach to finding solutions.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across different teams.
  • A proactive, detail‑focused mindset and a genuine passion for technology and innovation.
  • Most importantly, someone who asks questions, gets hands‑on, spots opportunities and wants to make things better.
