Prolific is not just another player in the AI space – we are the architects of the human data infrastructure that's reshaping the landscape of AI development. As our Platform Engineering Manager, you will lead our Cloud Platform and SRE teams, taking charge of the technical foundation and reliability that allows Prolific to scale securely and efficiently.
Why Prolific
At Prolific, our product development group is a powerhouse of Engineering, Platform, Product, Data, Design, and Research – all working in lockstep. You'll thrive in cross-functional teams, each with a clear mission and the freedom to self-organize and innovate towards the best possible outcomes. We're passionate about moving fast and continuously improving, and we champion strong engineering principles and a culture of strong ownership.
As a Platform Engineering Manager, you've built deep technical credibility as a senior individual contributor, solving complex infrastructure and business problems firsthand, before progressing into building high-performing teams and raising the bar through structured management practices. Your expertise will directly impact the technical excellence of your teams' work. You'll be instrumental in driving technical decision-making and collaboratively building scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems that power the future of AI.
What you'll be doing
- Unified Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and professional growth opportunities for one or more Platform teams, fostering a culture of high performance and ownership.
- Infrastructure Ownership: Drive the strategic direction for our infrastructure and platform ensuring robust management of our services like Kubernetes (GKE) clusters. Focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and innovation.
- Champion SRE Culture: Own availability and embed SRE principles across the organization, including defining SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and enhancing observability and incident remediation.
- Platform & Developer Experience: Own the developer-facing platform — golden paths, self-service infrastructure, and internal tooling — so teams can provision, deploy, and operate services safely and independently. Treat the platform as a product with its own roadmap and adoption metrics, not just a set of shared services.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure our cloud environments remain secure and compliant with standards such as SOC2 and ISO-27001.
What you'll bring
- Infrastructure Leadership: Proven experience leading teams in the infrastructure and SRE domains, with a track record of scaling platforms and people.
- Technical Expertise: Several years of deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Terragrunt, Crossplane), with GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD.
- Reliability & Architecture: Solid understanding of complex infrastructure and application architecture, observability principles, and incident management.
- Stability & Velocity: Experience balancing the need for platform stability and reliability with the goal of increasing developer productivity and velocity.
- Bridge Builder: Fluency in translating complex technical solutions and their feasibility into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
Our Technology Stack (You'll be working with these technologies):
- Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Terragrunt, Crossplane
- Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Frameworks: Django Rest Framework, container-based services, Serverless architectures
