Our mission is simple: keeping building services in their place by helping wholesalers, merchants and contractors access the right products, in the right specification, when they need them. With UK-held stock, technical product knowledge and reliable delivery, Prokura is building a systems-led presence across the M&E supply chain.

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for delivering profitable sales growth across a defined South East territory. The role is focused on winning new business, growing existing accounts and increasing Prokura's visibility with wholesalers, merchants, contractors and trade customers. You will build a clear pipeline of opportunities, convert prospects into active customers and develop long-term relationships that support sustainable revenue growth. This is a target-driven field sales role for someone who is commercially sharp, highly active in the territory and confident taking ownership of their sales performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Territory Ownership and Sales Growth: Own and develop the South London to Southampton sales territory, including South London, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and the wider South Coast corridor.
  • New Business Development: Build and manage a high-quality prospect pipeline across electrical wholesalers, plumbers merchants, building services contractors and relevant trade customers. Proactively identify, approach and convert new accounts through regular field activity, customer visits, follow-up calls and targeted prospecting. Create clear territory plans that prioritise high-value prospects, dormant accounts and customers with strong growth potential. Open doors with decision makers, understand buying drivers and position Prokura as a reliable supply partner. Drive sales of Prokura's core product range, including fasteners, fittings, bracketry, threaded rod, slotted channel and related building services products. Negotiate commercially sound agreements that grow revenue while protecting margin. Consistently deliver against agreed sales targets, activity expectations and margin objectives.
  • Account Management and Commercial Performance: Grow existing customer spend by increasing product penetration, improving order frequency and identifying cross-sell opportunities. Maintain strong relationships with key customers through structured visits, regular contact and clear follow-up on actions and opportunities. Provide accurate forecasts, pipeline updates and market feedback to support sales planning and stock decisions. This will be fully supported by a dedicated Internal Key Account Manager to assist with ongoing relationship management and customer development.
  • Product Knowledge and Internal Collaboration: Develop a strong working knowledge of Prokura's product range and use this to provide practical, confident support to customers. Work closely with internal sales, purchasing, customer service and operations teams to make sure customer commitments are delivered professionally.

  • Proven experience in field sales, area sales, account management or business development, ideally within construction products, building services, electrical wholesale, fixings, fasteners, channel support systems or a related trade supply environment.
  • A strong track record of winning new business, growing accounts and delivering against sales targets.
  • Commercially confident, with the ability to manage pricing, margin, customer expectations and sales opportunities.
  • Excellent customer communication skills, including face-to-face selling, telephone follow-up and professional written communication.
  • Strong planning and territory management skills, with the discipline to maintain a healthy pipeline and consistent sales activity.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the territory.

Personal Profile

  • Sales driven, resilient and motivated by winning new business and exceeding targets.
  • Confident, professional and credible when dealing with customers at all levels.
  • Highly proactive, organised and able to manage a busy field based workload.
  • Commercially minded and comfortable asking for the order, closing opportunities and following up with pace.
  • A strong relationship builder who can earn trust quickly with customers and colleagues.
  • Positive, accountable and willing to take ownership of territory results.

Working Location

The role is field based and will require regular travel across South London, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Southampton and the surrounding South Coast territory.
