Projective Group is looking for a Firewall Engineering Support professional to join a major banking client on a high-profile ECB remediation and automation programme. The focus of this role is to accelerate Firewall change automation, strengthen policy governance, and enhance overall compliance readiness in line with ECB and wider regulatory expectations.
You will work as part of a small, high-impact team building automated solutions that integrate with existing Firewall infrastructure, streamline change approval workflows, and embed controls-as-code to improve both efficiency and audit traceability. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone comfortable working across security, networking, and Python-based automation.
Responsibilities- Develop and automate Firewall-change workflows using Python and API integrations.
- Support dynamic policy review, approval, and update processes across multi-vendor environments.
- Implement security controls as code and infrastructure-as-code aligned with operating-model standards.
- Produce data-driven outputs to support ECB-related reporting and security-control visibility.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to strengthen automation, audit traceability, and governance.
- Strong hands-on Firewall engineering experience (e.g. Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco).
- (Nice to have) Proven Python scripting and API integration skills for network-security automation.
- Knowledge of network security design, policy management, and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with ECB, DORA, or other financial sector regulatory frameworks (PRA/FCA/EBA) is desirable.
- Confident communicator able to work with both technical and governance stakeholders.
- 6-12-month contract with potential extension.
- Hybrid model - London office 2-3 days per week.
