We’re also open to candidates being based anywhere in Europe; those based outside the UK will work remotely, with occasional travel required.

Who We Are

Project Tempo is a new kind of non-profit, unlocking change that lasts. Across Europe, we study the forces shaping public opinion and the barriers holding back strong and clean economies. Our work has three pillars:

  • Data that Changes the Debate: We develop original research, polling and data models that help policy makers, non-profits and business groups understand what voters want and how opinion is shifting.
  • Solutions to Structural Problems: We partner to develop outside-the-box policy thinking that addresses the structural problems holding us back - and deliver results people can feel.
  • Delivering Change: We build cross-sector partnerships to shape ideas, influence policy, and translate research into real-world impact.

We have a lean, high-performing, and highly autonomous team. As we move from set-up to scale-up, we are consolidating our operations and significantly expanding our reach and impact across Europe.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Head of Communications to define and lead how Project Tempo tells its story. This is a high-impact role with responsibility for shaping and owning the organisation’s communications, influencing key audiences, and ensuring our research and ideas drive impact across multiple markets.

You will build and own an organisation-wide communications strategy that strengthens our credibility, amplifies our insights, and positions Project Tempo as a trusted voice at the intersection of policy, business, and the non-profit world. Working across France, Italy, Poland, Germany, the UK and EU-wide research initiatives, including our flagship Europulse programme, you will translate complex data and policy thinking into persuasive stories for decision-makers.

This role is an opportunity to build and lead a communications function in close partnership with senior leadership, with real ownership in shaping strategy, narrative, and external impact. It suits someone who is ambitious, thoughtful, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop, execute and own a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Project Tempo’s mission and growth ambitions. Act as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director and senior leadership on positioning, narrative, and external engagement. Manage relationships with external communications agencies and partners.
  • Channel Stewardship & Content: Lead communications across owned and earned channels, including email, LinkedIn, digital platforms, and media. Translate complex research and policy ideas into compelling, actionable narratives tailored to specific audiences. Oversee content development for campaigns, reports, and organisational announcements.
  • Audience Engagement: Deepen engagement with policy makers, businesses, non-profits, and donors through targeted storytelling and messaging. Work closely with Project Tempo country leads to support their programmes, publications, media engagement, and speaking activities; and to deliver exclusive analysis and insight to key stakeholders.
  • Media & Public Profile: Design and execute a proactive media strategy, securing high-impact coverage, thought leadership opportunities, and strategic partnerships. Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, bylines, social media content, and speeches on behalf of senior leadership, Board members, and Advisory Council members.
  • Measurement & Optimisation: Define success metrics for communications and use data to continuously improve performance. Leverage insights and analytics to maximise reach and impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience in communications, with the confidence and judgment to independently develop and execute end-to-end strategies.
  • Hands-on expertise across core channels, with a track record of learning fast and delivering results.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and inspire action.
  • Strategic, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Experience with nonprofit, policy, or public affairs communications is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple countries or European markets is a plus.

Why Project Tempo?

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead the communications function of an ambitious, fast-growing non-profit tackling climate and economic challenges in a new and impactful way. You’ll have genuine ownership, work closely with senior leadership, and play a defining role in how our ideas influence policy across Europe.
