Our Client is an established engineering business looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across liquid handling, mixing systems, and thermal energy applications within the food and drink manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design liquid handling and mixing systems to meet food-grade and hygienic standards
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD) including pipework layouts, skids, and mechanical assemblies
- Design cooling systems, hot water generation, and heat recovery solutions
- Specify key components such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and tanks
- Develop GA drawings, P&IDs, and isometric pipework drawings
- Collaborate closely with process, electrical, and installation teams
- Support site surveys, equipment selection, and on-site engineering activities
Requirements
- Degree / HND / HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D)
- Experience designing pipework systems, ideally within hygienic or food-grade environments
- Solid understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Knowledge of hot and chilled water systems, heat recovery, and energy-efficient solutions
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
