Our client, a world-leading independent provider of analysis, data, research, and tools to decision-makers driving change in the global energy system, is seeking a Data Operations Analyst to join their team based in the city of London. This role is focused on maintaining operational continuity across core data workflows during a period of transition, including automation and operating model improvements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting data quality, validation, and day-to-day operational processes including repetitive and process-driven tasks while contributing to a more streamlined and automated future state. This is a 24-month hybrid contract role based in London. The successful candidate will be required to work onsite five days per week during the initial two-week training period, followed by remote working thereafter.
The ideal candidate must be a detail-oriented and reliable data professional with strong Excel and data-handling skills, capable of performing accurate data validation and quality control in a process-driven environment. They should have a basic understanding of financial or structured data, strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies, and clear communication skills to collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities- Manage vendor escalations and perform manual data updates where required
- Conduct dataset quality control, validation, and oversee vendor QC processes
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot data discrepancies
- Provide training and guidance to vendors to improve data delivery quality
- Support internal and external users with dataset-related queries
- Ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets through regular checks
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and workflow stabilization
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in data validation and quality checks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data manipulation and analysis)
- Intermediate understanding of financial/data concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to manage repetitive, process-driven tasks with high accuracy
- Strong communication skills for working with vendors and cross-functional teams
- Ability to provide structured feedback and training
- Proactive mindset with strong ownership and follow-through
- Degree (or expected within one year) in Business, Finance, Data, or a related field
- Reliable internet connectivity for remote work when required
- Own laptop or PC
- Exposure to data operations or financial datasets
- Interest in process improvement and automation
- Familiarity with tools or concepts such as ARD, STP pipelines, or LLM-based systems
