We’re looking for a PR Corporate & Communications Lead to shape, protect, and elevate corporate reputation in a complex, high-profile environment. Operating at the heart of a national infrastructure organisation, this role will lead the corporate narrative, oversee media strategy, and ensure strong governance across all external communications. You’ll play a critical role in building trust with stakeholders while navigating reputational challenges, public scrutiny, and industry transformation. This is a high-impact leadership role combining strategic communications, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement at scale.
Responsibilities of the PR Corporate & Communications Lead include:
- Own and deliver the corporate communications and PR strategy
- Lead reputation management, corporate narrative, and external messaging
- Oversee issues management, crisis communications, and governance frameworks
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on reputational risk
- Lead communications across a broad stakeholder landscape, including media, government, local authorities, communities, industry bodies, and partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and key external voices
- Shape messaging to support delivery and prevent reputational risk
- Develop and maintain crisis readiness frameworks and response plans
- Lead communications in high-risk scenarios (e.g. public scrutiny, planning challenges, misinformation)
- Ensure rapid, consistent, and credible responses
- Drive corporate positioning across key themes such as sustainability, trust, safety, and social impact
- Lead communications for major announcements, partnerships, and industry initiatives
- Support executive profiling and thought leadership
- Establish and maintain communications governance, policies, and standards
- Ensure consistency, quality, and control across all messaging and outputs
- Oversee internal communications and community engagement via your team
- Manage PR agencies and specialist partners to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Ensure strong performance, responsiveness, and alignment to strategy
The successful PR Corporate & Communications Lead will have:
- Significant experience in Corporate Communications, PR, or Corporate Affairs
- Proven track record managing high-stakes reputational risk and crisis situations
- Experience advising senior executives and working at C-suite level
- Background engaging with complex stakeholder environments (e.g. public sector, communities, media)
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills (media statements, speeches, briefings)
- Strong judgement and ability to operate under pressure
- Confident stakeholder management across senior internal and external audiences
- Experience building governance frameworks and structured communication processes
- Deep understanding of media relations and corporate communications best practice
- Expertise in crisis communications and issues management
- Awareness of regulated or high-scrutiny environments (infrastructure experience beneficial)
