This Technical Business Analyst acts as a key bridge between business stakeholders and internal/external technical teams. The role translates business requirements into clear, detailed technical specifications including functional requirements, API specifications, data mappings, and system integration designs. Working across both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments, this role ensures solutions are technically feasible, well-defined, and aligned to architectural standards and strategic product direction. The role sits within a Digital Product Engineering function undergoing large-scale transformation, where architecture and governance are being centralised to improve consistency, control, and alignment across the product ecosystem. The Technical Business Analyst will collaborate closely with engineering leadership, product owners, transformation teams, and external partners to define and govern solution designs across multiple digital platforms. This is a great role working for a high profile company and has 2 day hybrid working each week in Reading/Newbury.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements & Scope Definition
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into structured technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Define functional and non-functional requirements across digital products and services
- Ensure clarity, completeness, and consistency of requirements across multiple delivery teams
- Document end-to-end workflows, system behaviour, and integration points across platforms
- Produce data mappings, interface specifications, and system dependency models
- Analyse interactions between legacy and modern cloud-based systems
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and developers to define scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions
- Contribute to high-level solution design and ensure alignment with architectural principles and standards
- Review and assess partner and third-party solution designs for consistency with internal architecture
- Analyse operational processes and governance frameworks to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Recommend improvements aligned with engineering best practices and product scalability goals
- Support product owners and delivery teams in defining scope, sizing initiatives, and managing dependencies
- Ensure architectural artefacts and technical documentation are maintained and governed effectively
- Group, prioritise, and support delivery of strategic and optimisation backlog items
Experience needed:
- Experience as a Technical Business Analyst or in a similar technical/solution-focused role
- Experience working across front-end web and mobile applications
- Strong experience across both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
- Proven experience working on digital transformation or large-scale change programmes
- Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures, microservices, and API-driven systems
- Experience of JIRA (user stories, backlog management, delivery tracking) and Confluence
