We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing Lead (Public Sector) to spearhead our Marketing initiatives in the public sector. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping our public affairs engagement, campaign strategies, and communication efforts with government entities and industry bodies.
Key Accountabilities
- Achieve defined OKRs related to public sector engagement, media coverage, and campaign effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials, industry leaders, and media contacts.
- Deliver effective public affairs strategies that align with the company's growth objectives and regulatory environment.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the CMO, General Counsel, and Director of Property and Estates.
- Create and execute game changing Marketing campaigns to increase our share of voice and brand consideration and engagement for both policy influencing, meetings and lead generation/ consultation opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Public Relations and Thought Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy and execute plan to enhance Cornerstone’s brand awareness, consideration and reputation in the public sector. Craft compelling content for our target audiences, including press releases, thought leadership pieces, white papers, and opinion articles. Identify and create opportunities for public speaking engagements and industry panel discussions for Cornerstone’s leadership teams.
- Public Affairs Engagement: Lead public affairs initiatives and develop campaigns to engage key stakeholders across government, media, and industry bodies. Build and nurture relationships with government departments, local authorities, industry trade associations, and industry groups. Collaborate and build strong relationships with Cornerstone’s customers’ public affairs, public relations and media teams, to maximise lobbying opportunities and secure strategic meetings with policymakers.
- Campaign Strategy and Execution: Design targeted communication strategies for ministerial and government engagements, ensuring alignment with the company's objectives. Work closely with Cornerstone’s internal teams and SMEs to develop and deliver impactful campaigns that highlight our role as the partner of choice in mobile and digital infrastructure services. Monitor and provide insights into political party activities and Government funded tenders to identify opportunities for sales and growth in co-ordination with the Sales team.
- Policy Support and Advocacy: Assist the General Counsel and Head of Planning in policy submissions and advocacy efforts related to telecom regulations, CODE and infrastructure development. Monitor and analyse legislative developments, providing insights and recommendations to influence policy decisions favourable to Cornerstone.
- Media and Government Relations: Drive proactive PR activities across government entities, media outlets, civil services, devolved governments, and planning authorities. Coordinate with the Communications Manager to manage press inquiries and media relationships, ensuring accurate and favourable coverage. Drive positive media coverage through creation of white papers and thought leadership pieces. Identify, develop and maintain a content calendar for relevant forums, press and associations. Forge strong relationships with customers Marketing teams for positive press coverage and damage reputation management.
- Content Creation and Copywriting: Produce high-quality written content for various communication channels, including blogs, newsletters, speeches, and reports with target audiences (Ministers, Government, DSIT, Local Authorities, Cabinet, Civil Service, etc). Ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all public sector communication efforts.
- Event Management: Plan and execute public sector events, parliamentary events, conferences, and roundtables to strengthen Cornerstone’s presence and thought leadership in the industry. Collaborate with Marketing Operations to ensure seamless event logistics and execution.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in public sector marketing, public relations, or public affairs.
- Experience in the telecommunications or infrastructure industry is highly desirable.
Broad Marketing Skills:
- Extensive experience in public relations, public affairs, and communications within a B2B corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and the ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns.
Public Sector Expertise:
- Proven track record of engaging with government entities, local authorities, and industry bodies.
