Senior Health & Safety Business Partner role within MBNL’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function, reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Environment. Managing a team of Health & Safety Business Partners, this role is central to embedding MBNL’s vision of “Everyone Home Safe and Well Every Day” across a complex, multi‑stakeholder organisation.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor and change agent—bringing together operational insight, strategic oversight, and performance intelligence to identify, manage, and reduce health, safety, and environmental risk across MBNL’s activities.

Why this role matters: As MBNL evolves its capabilities as an Infrastructure Manager, safety leadership is critical. This role ensures that health and safety is not owned by HSE alone, but embedded within the business, understood at the frontline, and governed at an enterprise level. By providing strong direction and insight, you’ll help protect people, communities, and assets—while enabling safe delivery at scale and pace. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in our Central Reading office.

What you’ll be here to do: You’ll oversee health and safety business partnering across MBNL, ensuring consistent, high‑quality advice and meaningful risk reduction. You’ll:

  • Direct, coach, and develop a team of Health & Safety Business Partners
  • Embed MBNL’s business‑partnering model and drive ownership of safety
  • Partner with senior management to influence behaviour, capability, and accountability for risk
  • Provide enterprise‑wide insight on safety risk, trends, and control effectiveness
  • Own and maintain MBNL’s fatal and significant risk register
  • Ensure assurance activity is risk‑based and delivers measurable improvement
  • Oversee governance forums, working groups, and performance reporting
  • Maintain ISO 45001 compliance and evolve HSE standards and processes
  • Manage Health & Safety partnering for Estates & Asset Management
  • Champion external best practice and translate it into practical, operational improvements

Who we’re looking for: You’re a credible, influential safety leader with the confidence to operate at senior level and the ability to build strong relationships across a joint‑venture environment. You balance strategic thinking with operational realism and are passionate about developing others. You’ll have:

  • A relevant health & safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma)
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • Proven ability to influence in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
  • Strong coaching and relationship‑building capability
  • Working towards, or already holds, relevant professional body status (e.g. IOSH).
  • Experience maintaining ISO 45001 accreditation
  • Background in construction, infrastructure, or asset‑based environments

If you also have the following, we’re especially interested in talking to you: Internal auditor training. You’ll be shaping how safety is led, owned, and lived at MBNL—protecting people today while building a stronger, safer organisation for the future.
