Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor who is looking to step up and progress into senior level or someone who has recently been working in a senior level H&S advisor role and ready for a new challenge in East / West Sussex.
Role Purpose: The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing support and advice on all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing, developing documentation, meeting legal, regulatory and company standards and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement. Senior Health and Safety Advisors are responsible for mentoring and providing guidance to SHEQ Advisors and supporting the SHEQ Lead to deliver Health and Safety objectives for the business.
Role Summary:
- Produce reports on work/projects/activities carried out.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of legislation and any developments that affect the industry.
- Act as a role model at all times in support of the company’s vision, priorities and values.
- Develop and deliver learning bulletins, toolbox talks and safety alerts about Health and Safety issues.
- Carry out D&A testing as required (training provided).
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with procedures, laws and guidance.
- Lead incident investigations, analysing root causes, and produce corrective action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
- Report incidents in line with Company and Client requirements.
- Provide SHEQ Inductions.
- Attend company and client SHEQ meetings, as required.
- Support the continuous development of management systems.
- Mentor and provide guidance to SHEQ Advisors and other team members.
- Review risk assessments, safe systems of work, construction phase health, safety and environmental Management plans. Recommend mitigation strategies.
- Identify training needs and escalating to the compliance manager, where appropriate.
- Undertake internal audits and produce reports based on findings. Take an active role in external audits.
- Lead employee meetings for SHEQ.
- Collaborate with the SHEQ Lead to develop and monitor key performance indicators.
- Develop and actively participate in stand down events.
- Assist the SHEQ Lead on the assessment and appointment of supply chain partners.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post.
Candidate Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor in utilities or construction.
- Knowledge of relevant SHEQ regulations, standards and best practice.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for safety, health, environmental and quality with a commitment to ongoing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent on Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Etc).
- Strong communication skills to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising safety and quality.
- Ability to travel to operational sites in the Southeast, although nationwide travel may be required intermittently.
- Ability to provide out of hours on call support (as required).
Candidate Qualifications Required:
- NEBOSH General or Construction.
- Technical Member of IOSH (TechIOSH).
- UK Driving Licence.
- ISO 45001 internal auditor training (desirable).
- NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health & Safety Management Professionals or NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practices (desirable).
- IOSH membership (GradIOSH) (desirable).
