Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced H&S Advisor to come and join an established team in Binley, Coventry. The purpose of the H&S Advisor is to support assigned operations to achieve the highest possible health and safety standards, in accordance with UK legislation, company global and UK requirements, and recognized industry good practice. This includes minimizing the potential for injury and promoting business efficiency through robust health and safety management systems and an industry-leading health and safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • To develop effective working relations throughout assigned operations within the company and also external stakeholders to develop a positive health and safety culture through specialist independent advice, influencing behaviour, mentoring, coaching and assisting with health and safety initiatives.
  • Support benchmarking and monitoring of health and safety performance to aid understanding of the impact of initiatives, compare performance against that of competitors and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement global inspections and Management audits to assess compliance with legislative and company standards. To encourage a continual reduction in incidents in line with goal of ZERO incidents.
  • Communicate health and safety performance at UK and local levels, best practice examples and legislative updates to ensure local plans are in place to deliver continual improvement. Supporting Health and Safety Forums and Management Meetings as appropriate.
  • Develop training courses and health and safety communiqués and delivery of formal health and safety courses and informal coaching during site visits to ensure competence of staff and to aid compliance with health and safety legislation and company requirements.
  • Play an active part in incident investigation, coaching teams in effective root cause analysis investigation and tracking closure of resulting actions.
  • Support the Health and Safety Manager in the delivery of coordinated assistance to the operations and wider health and safety team. Including the development and administration of specific project work or departmental monitoring systems where required.

Candidate requirements

  • Qualifications or studies proven in Health and Safety (Degree, diploma etc).
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and British Standards.
  • Experience of undertaking root cause analysis investigations.
  • Ability to undertake formal audits and inspections.
  • Previous experience involving significant health and safety responsibilities.
  • Experience in handling H&S documentation.
  • Previous role in multi-site organisation (desirable).
  • Previous H&S experience in Construction, Civil Engineering or Utilities (desirable).
  • Proficient on MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and IT internal systems.
  • Strong presentation skills with small and large audiences.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to work alone as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Good time management.

This role primarily involves travelling to operational sites to provide support and conduct H&S inspections. Office-based days are required as necessary and are managed locally.
