Project Partners are now recruiting for an experienced Solar EV Build Manager based in the Cambridgeshire area to come and join a growing team delivering solar and renewable energy projects.
The head office is based in Ely so ideal candidate will be based within 1 hour commute and you will be working on a hybrid set up of 3 days onsite/field and 2 working from home.
Role Purpose
The Solar & Renewables Build Manager is responsible for the successful on-site delivery of solar and renewable energy projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality and client standards.
The role provides hands-on leadership of site teams and subcontractors and acts as a key operational interface with the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Site & Programme Delivery
- Manage day-to-day construction activities across allocated solar and renewable projects.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise productivity.
- Monitor programme, milestones and progress, identifying and resolving issues before they impact delivery.
- Carry out regular site visits and ensure construction activities meet approved designs, specifications and RAMS.
- Coordinate activities including groundworks, access, foundations, cable routes, ducting, fencing, mounting systems and associated infrastructure.
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key operational contact for the client during construction.
- Attend progress meetings and provide clear updates on programme, risks, quality and delivery.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, landowners and subcontractors.
- Resolve issues quickly and maintain a professional, solutions-focused approach.
- Team & Contractor Management
- Lead site teams, supervisors and subcontractors, setting clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity and programme.
- Monitor contractor performance and address poor performance promptly.
- Ensure all personnel have appropriate competence, qualifications and training.
- Promote a positive, accountable and delivery-focused culture.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and ensure compliance with company procedures, RAMS and relevant legislation.
- Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and safety observations.
- Monitor quality, manage defects and ensure effective snagging and close-out.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, documentation and client handover.
- Commercial, Risk & Reporting
- Monitor productivity, resource utilisation and project performance against budget.
- Identify and escalate commercial, programme, technical and resource risks.
- Support variation and change management.
- Maintain accurate project systems, site records and weekly reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost and strengthen delivery processes.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in on-site construction and client delivery, ideally within solar, renewables, utilities or infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing site teams and subcontractors.
- Practical understanding of solar farm/renewable construction activities.
- Strong Health & Safety and construction compliance knowledge.
- Experience managing client relationships and delivery expectations.
- Ability to understand drawings, specifications, programmes and RAMS.
- Strong organisational, commercial and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under programme pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS or equivalent desirable.
- Renewable energy, electrical, civils or construction qualifications desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
