Our client is a growing multi-utility and infrastructure delivery partner, currently expanding its capability further in electrical and EV infrastructure. We are seeking a Head of Electrical to lead the establishment, accreditation, mobilisation and commercial growth of this division.
This role is suited to an individual who is a self-starter, has previously built, scaled or significantly developed an electrical function, with full ownership of compliance, delivery and commercial performance.
The Role: Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of the electrical division, including:
- Achieving and maintaining accreditation with NICEIC / NAPIT
- Acting as Qualifying Supervisor (QS) or implementing a compliant QS structure
- Establishing electrical policies, procedures, RAMS and technical standards
- Building and managing a competent electrical workforce
- Leading delivery across LV/HV electrical works and EV infrastructure projects
- Managing certification, inspection and testing processes
- Developing and maintaining supply chain relationships (manufacturers, wholesalers, subcontractors)
- Supporting tendering, estimating and pricing activities
- Driving revenue growth and embedding electrical capability into existing contracts
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Accreditation
- Lead application and approval process with NICEIC / NAPIT
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and Part P requirements
- Implement inspection, testing and certification processes
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and processes
- Operational Delivery
- Mobilise and manage electrical works across multiple projects
- Oversee EV charge point installations (domestic and commercial)
- Coordinate with civils teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
- Ensure adherence to programme, quality and safety requirements
- Team & Capability Build
- Recruit and develop electricians, supervisors and support roles
- Define competency requirements and training pathways
- Upskill existing operatives where appropriate
- Establish scalable team structures aligned to workload
- Commercial & Growth
- Support pricing, estimating and bid submissions alongside Commercial Team
- Work with SLT to identify and secure new work opportunities
- Leverage existing client relationships to introduce electrical services
- Develop partnerships with EV manufacturers and suppliers
Experience Required:
- Demonstrable experience building or scaling an electrical division or business unit
- Strong commercial awareness including pricing, margins and cost control
- Experience managing teams and subcontractors
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Proven experience delivering electrical works within utilities, infrastructure or construction environments
- Experience in EV charge point installation (domestic and/or commercial)
- Understanding of DNO processes and network constraints (advantageous)
Qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- Inspection & Testing (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)
- Previous experience as a Qualifying Supervisor (NICEIC / NAPIT)
- Any further qualifications and accreditations that would benefit demonstrating experience
Key Deliverables (First 6–12 Months):
- Electrical accreditation achieved (NICEIC / NAPIT)
- Fully operational electrical team mobilised
- EV infrastructure capability established
- Initial projects delivered across multiple clients
- Pipeline of secured and repeatable workstreams
This role is critical to accelerating our clients entry into the electrical market and enabling delivery within a compressed timeframe.
Location & Travel:
- Head office location – Barnsley, South Yorkshire (provisional base of operations)
- UK-wide role
- Regular travel to project sites and client locations will be required
