Job Overview:

As a Business Development Manager at Project Merchandise, you will play an important role in driving new business growth whilst helping brands discover more thoughtful and sustainable merchandise solutions. This role is heavily focused on generating new opportunities for the business through proactive outreach, networking, events, relationship building, and identifying new areas for growth. The role is centred around opening doors, creating opportunities, and building a strong pipeline for the wider Account Management team. We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, proactive, confident speaking to new people, and excited by the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth of the business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, attending events, spotting opportunities, and creating conversations that lead to new business. You will work closely with the wider Sales team, suppliers, and prospects to position Project Merchandise as a leading sustainable merchandise partner.

Job Location:

Remote, with five office days per month at our Old Street office, including every Thursday and the first Wednesday of each month.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Identifying and generating new business opportunities across target sectors and markets
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospective opportunities
  • Proactive outreach through networking, calling, LinkedIn, email campaigns, and events
  • Attending industry events, networking opportunities, and client meetings
  • Creating opportunities for the wider Account Management team
  • Introducing Project Merchandise's sustainability led offering to prospective clients
  • Understanding prospect requirements and identifying suitable solutions
  • Supporting the early stages of the sales process before opportunities are transitioned to the Account Management team
  • Creating and presenting suitable product ideas aligned to client objectives and budgets
  • Supporting performance against monthly and annual gross profit targets
  • Staying up to date with new products, trends, and developments across the industry
  • Maintaining strong organisation across pipelines, opportunities, and CRM activity
  • Contributing ideas to wider sales initiatives, campaigns, and business growth opportunities
  • Building industry knowledge through training, supplier relationships, and self development
  • Complete BPMA Level 1 training
