Project London is hiring a mid-weight interior designer to join our London studio.

About Project London

We are an award-winning studio that brings architecture, interior design, procurement and project management together under one roof. We design and deliver high-end residential homes from first concept through to the final detail, working across prime central London and the Home Counties, with a growing studio in Dubai. Alongside us sits Cor Domi, our bespoke kitchen and joinery business, so our designers work hand in hand with a dedicated maker on the pieces that give a home its character.

What sets us apart is how we run a project. We work on an open-book basis, stay independent from the builder and tender competitively, so our clients always know what they are paying for and why. Our work on Portobello Road has just been shortlisted for a BIID Interior Design Award in the Greater London residential category, and Lion House on Bradbourne Street was named Best Architecture Single Residence at the UK International Property Awards. We have a strong pipeline ahead and are looking for a talented designer to grow with us.

The role

This is a hands-on role for a designer with solid high-end residential experience who is ready to run projects day to day. You will work closely with our senior designers and the wider team, taking ownership of your own projects while drawing on support when you need it. You will report to a senior member of the design team and play a real part in the quality and rhythm of everything we deliver.

What you will do:

  • Design and delivery
    • Take ownership of projects across concept, design development and delivery, keeping each one on programme and on budget.
    • Prepare client presentations and design packages that are clear, considered and well put together.
    • Develop space planning, finishes, materials and FF&E selections that balance creative ambition with how people really live.
    • Produce and coordinate drawing packages, working alongside our architects and technical team.
    • Hold a keen eye for detail from the first sketch through to the final snag.
  • Sourcing and suppliers
    • Research and source the right products, materials and suppliers for each project, building strong relationships with the best makers along the way.
    • Prepare clear specifications and schedules, then work closely with our procurement team as they take each project through ordering, delivery and installation.
    • Work closely with Cor Domi on bespoke kitchens and joinery.
  • Clients and communication
    • Act as a trusted point of contact for clients throughout delivery.
    • Present concepts with confidence to clients, colleagues and professional teams.
    • Keep clients well informed with timely, well-presented updates.
  • Studio and standards
    • Represent Project London professionally and uphold our standards on site and off.
    • Support more junior members of the team and contribute to studio design reviews.
    • Stay close to new materials, makers and ideas through trade shows and industry events.

What you will bring

  • A degree in interior design or architecture.
  • At least five years of post-degree experience, ideally in high-end residential.
  • Strong creative, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to handle several projects at once.
  • A good working knowledge of current UK building regulations, and an awareness of the considerations that come with listed and heritage properties.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • A process-driven approach with a genuine eye for detail.
  • The right to live and work in the UK.
  • Software: Vectorworks (2D), Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office. Any experience with SketchUp or visualisation software is a welcome bonus rather than a requirement.

Why join us

  • A competitive salary, set to your experience.
  • Hybrid working, with three days in our Parsons Green studio and two from home.
  • 25 days of holiday a year, plus our office closure over the Christmas break.
  • A close, ambitious studio with genuine plans for growth and real room to progress.
  • Varied, high-quality projects where your work makes a visible difference.

How to apply

Step one: complete our application quiz; this should take no more than 30-40 minutes. Please note only candidates who complete the quiz will be considered for interview.

Step two: submit your CV and portfolio.

A few details:

  • This role is open to candidates already based in London with relevant experience.
  • You must hold the right to live and work in the UK.
  • We are looking to fill the role as soon as we can, though we understand the right person may have a notice period to work.
