We are collaborating with the consulting arm of a construction company. They require a freelancer to work on sustainability and building decarbonisation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring 4+ years of technical experience in building engineering or sustainability consultancy, with strong expertise in low-carbon design, retrofit strategies, and project coordination.
Key tasks:
- Support delivery of net zero building strategies across a diverse investment portfolio
- Provide technical input on energy efficiency, building decarbonisation, and retrofit opportunities
- Coordinate sustainability and ESG-related workstreams across internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with reporting, planning, and implementation of climate transition plans
- Translate technical building data into actionable insights and investment recommendations
Key skills/requirements:
- Background in engineering or architecture, and experience in implementing decarbonization projects
- 4+ years’ experience in sustainability, building engineering, or building performance consulting
- Strong technical knowledge of low-carbon and net zero building design
- Experience in energy modelling, building audits, or decarbonisation assessments
- Familiarity with UK Net Zero frameworks, LETI, RIBA 2030, or similar UK and European ones
- Excellent coordination and project management skills
- Confident communicator, able to work across multi-disciplinary teams
