We’re collaborating with a boutique consultancy that specialises in delivering transformation projects within the public sector. They’re seeking independent consultants with service design experience for a local government project. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the design and delivery of services for clients in local government and has worked within cross-functional teams to reimagine services that improve customer experiences and operational efficiency.
Project duration: Varies from 1-6 months
Day rate: £300-£450/day (outside IR35)
Tasks:
- Run service design training, coaching and mentoring to service leads in the Council as part of a programme to build the Council's capabilities, especially in Adult, Children's and Place services
- Conduct user research to understand needs, behaviours, and pain points
- Develop personas, journey maps, and service blueprints
- Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with stakeholders and users
- Design service concepts and testable prototypes
- Work closely with delivery, product, and ops teams to align implementation
Requirements:
- An independent consultant

- Proven experience delivering service design in complex environments
- Strong command of user research, journey mapping, and prototyping methods
