- To draw on your own lived experience of homelessness and/or recovery to provide meaningful, person-centred support to people accessing our services.
- To work alongside experienced specialist workers to support people experiencing homelessness alongside alcohol and/or other drug use.
- To help individuals access stable accommodation, improve their health and wellbeing, and develop the confidence and skills needed for greater independence.
- To provide support in a range of settings including drop-in sessions, one-to-one appointments and group activities.
- To develop the knowledge, skills and experience required to progress, through mentoring, supervision and training.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced colleagues to develop personalised support plans for people accessing the service
- Build positive, trusting relationships with individuals, sharing your lived experience appropriately to offer encouragement, build confidence and promote positive change.
- Support people to access housing assessments and complete accommodation applications.
- Provide practical support to help individuals attend appointments with housing, health, treatment and other appropriate services.
- Promote harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches with support from colleagues.
- Support people to reconnect with community services and activities that promote wellbeing and independence.
- Continue to support individuals after they move into accommodation, helping them to settle into, and sustain, their tenancy.
- Assist people with budgeting, accessing grants for essential household items and developing independent living skills.
- Encourage people to establish positive daily routines, strengthen social connections and achieve their personal goals.
- Contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive and recovery-focused day service environment.
- Participate fully in training, reflective practice, supervision and team meetings to develop the skills and knowledge required for the role.
- Maintain appropriate records and work in accordance with organisational policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety.
