My client is seeking a Lead Fire Risk Assessor to join their growing Fire Safety team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly competent professional who enjoys both hands-on assessment work and supporting the development of other assessors.

The Role

As Lead Fire Risk Assessor, you will undertake and lead life safety fire risk assessments across a broad range of premises while providing technical oversight, quality assurance, mentoring, and guidance to the wider assessment team.

You will play a key role in ensuring fire risk assessments are completed to the highest standards of accuracy, professionalism, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive life safety fire risk assessments.
  • Lead on complex, higher-risk, and technically challenging projects.
  • Produce clear, practical, and compliant fire risk assessment reports.
  • Review and quality assure the work of other assessors.
  • Act as a technical point of reference for complex fire safety issues.
  • Support competency reviews, witnessed assessments, and technical audits.
  • Mentor and develop Fire Risk Assessors within the team.
  • Assist with certification audits and compliance activities.
  • Provide professional fire safety advice and guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Role covering South Wales and South West

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation and guidance.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively.
  • Experience assessing a variety of building types and occupancies.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (IFE, IFSM or equivalent).
  • Experience reviewing and validating Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior assessors.
  • Knowledge of PAS 79, BS 9999, BS 9991 and associated fire safety guidance.
  • Experience using fire risk assessment software such as Risk Base.
