The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire door inspector to pick up a short-term contract in Newcastle, with an immediate start available at the end of May. The contract involves the visual inspection of 666 fire doors across a student accommodation project, with works pencilled in at approximately 126 doors per week over a five‑week programme.

The Role

As Fire Door Inspector, you will carry out thorough visual inspections of fire doors across a student accommodation site in Newcastle and the surrounding areas. All inspection findings will be recorded using Door Data Systems, so familiarity with this platform or similar digital recording tools is advantageous. This is a straightforward inspection‑only role with no installation or remedial works required. You will be expected to work efficiently and accurately to meet the weekly programme targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out visual inspections of fire doors across student accommodation sites.
  • Assess fire doors for compliance, identifying defects, gaps, ironmongery issues and seal condition.
  • Record all inspection findings accurately using Door Data Systems.
  • Work to a structured programme of approximately 126 doors per week.
  • Maintain clear and organised records throughout the contract.
  • Liaise with site contacts and conduct yourself professionally on occupied sites.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience carrying out fire door inspections.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire door compliance standards including gap tolerances, ironmongery, intumescent seals and signage requirements.
  • Experience working within student accommodation, social housing or similar occupied environments.
  • Familiarity with Door Data Systems or similar digital inspection recording platforms — desirable.
  • FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) accreditation — desirable.
  • BM TRADA or IFC awareness — desirable.
  • CSCS Card — desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence — desirable.
