A well-funded principal contractor specialising in building safety and passive fire protection is creating an internal Fire Protection division and seeks a Senior Contracts Manager to lead delivery and grow the unit. This senior leadership role offers autonomy, influence and direct input to business development across a strong pipeline of remediation and façade projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of passive fire projects (fire stopping, fire door replacement) from mobilisation to final account.
  • Ensure safe, on-programme, on-budget delivery with strong site presence and progress reviews.
  • Own project P&L, monitor costs/margins/variations and support CVR/financial reporting.
  • Procure and manage subcontractors; drive commercial performance and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain compliance with passive fire standards, certification and building safety legislation; support quality management and accreditation.
  • Act as client contact; build lasting client relationships and support tenders.
  • Lead and develop Site Managers, supervisors and subcontractors; foster accountability and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements (Essential)

  • Proven Contracts Manager / Senior Project Manager experience in passive fire protection.
  • Strong background delivering fire stopping and/or fire door replacement programmes.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Deep knowledge of passive fire systems, installation standards and certification.
  • Commercially experienced with budget and profitability ownership.
  • Understanding of building safety legislation and Golden Thread documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder and subcontractor management skills.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • FIRAS experience or familiarity with accreditation processes.
  • Knowledge of Higher Risk Buildings / Building Safety Act.
  • Experience in occupied residential environments; understanding of JCT/NEC.
