This is an excellent short-term contract opportunity for experienced passive fire surveyors to carry out fire door and fire stopping surveys across a social housing project near Bodmin, Cornwall. The contract covers multiple blocks of flats across multiple sites. Local candidates based in or around Bodmin and the wider Cornwall area are strongly preferred for this role.

As Passive Fire Surveyor, you will carry out thorough surveys of fire doors and fire stopping across multiple occupied residential blocks near Bodmin, including full access to individual flats, communal doors, risers and compartmentation lines. All survey findings must be recorded accurately using digital reporting tools throughout. You will be expected to work independently and efficiently across both sites, managing your own workload and maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism when working within occupied social housing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Survey multiple blocks of flats across two social housing sites near Bodmin
  • Carry out fire door surveys across flat entrance doors, communal doors and associated ironmongery
  • Survey fire stopping works including risers, penetration seals, cavity barriers and compartmentation lines
  • Record all survey findings accurately and thoroughly using digital reporting tools
  • Conduct full surveys within individual flats with full site access provided
  • Identify defects and non-compliance issues in line with current regulations and passive fire standards
  • Manage your own workload independently across both sites
  • Maintain a professional and respectful approach when working within occupied social housing

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience surveying fire doors and fire stopping within social housing or similar occupied environments — both disciplines essential
  • Strong knowledge of fire door compliance including gaps, tolerances, ironmongery, intumescent seals and signage
  • Strong knowledge of fire stopping and compartmentation including penetration seals, cavity barriers and risers
  • Experience using digital survey and recording tools — essential
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites and blocks
  • Local to Bodmin or wider Cornwall area — strongly preferred
  • FDIS or equivalent fire door inspection qualification — desirable
  • Knowledge of FIRAS, BM TRADA or IFC standards — desirable
  • CSCS Card — desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence — required
