We are working with a small, well-established fire protection contractor who are looking to appoint a Fire Door Site Manager to oversee works across the Birmingham area. The company operates with a close-knit team of carpenters and typically manages 3–4 live sites at any one time, working primarily within social housing. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone confident taking ownership of quality, compliance and site organisation. This position would suit someone with strong technical knowledge of fire doors and compliance standards. A fitting background is not essential, but you must genuinely understand fire door components, installation standards and common defects, and be able to oversee works from a compliance and quality perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing fire door installations and remedial works across multiple sites
- Managing and coordinating a small team of carpenters
- Ensuring all works meet current fire door compliance standards (Approved Document B, BS 8214, etc.)
- Carrying out quality inspections, compliance checks and snagging
- Organising programmes of works and ensuring deadlines are met
- Implementing and improving site processes to ensure consistency and compliance
- Managing materials, deliveries and basic stock control
- Maintaining high Health & Safety standards on site
- Reporting progress to senior management
- Using Bolster or similar digital reporting systems to record works and evidence compliance
Requirements:
- Strong technical understanding of fire doors and compliance standards
- Experience within social housing environments
- Previous site management or supervisory experience
- Ability to confidently run multiple sites simultaneously
- Strong organisational skills and ability to structure workflows
- Comfortable putting processes in place to improve efficiency and quality
- Confident working within a small, close-knit team
