We are supporting an innovative engineering organisation working on a major safety‑critical project. They are seeking multiple Test Development Engineers with strong experience in hydraulic systems to deliver structured test programmes across a range of environments. This is a deep-dive, engineering‑biased test development position, focused on data, rig configuration, analysis, and robust validation of hydraulic components and systems. Ideal candidates will have backgrounds from heavy machinery, off‑highway, test houses, automotive, or hydraulic OEMs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and execute hydraulic test programmes including performance, endurance, pressure, leak, and functional testing.
- Specify and configure hydraulic test rigs, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Conduct development testing to support design validation, optimisation, and fault-finding.
- Analyse large datasets, identify trends, and provide sound technical conclusions.
- Produce detailed test procedures, reports, and engineering documentation.
- Liaise with Design, Commissioning, and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues and support product development.
- Contribute to design reviews, FMEAs, and qualification activities.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement across test methods, equipment, and processes.
- Ensure all testing is conducted in line with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain robust traceability of test data and calibrated equipment.
- Promote safe working practices in a controlled, regulated environment.
Skills & Experience
- Degree or technical apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
- Proven experience as a Test Development Engineer with a strong hydraulic focus.
- Hands‑on experience: pressure, flow, endurance, leak and functional hydraulic testing.
- Clear understanding of valves, pumps, accumulators, actuators, and hydraulic control systems.
- Ability to write structured test plans, test procedures, and formal reports.
- Strong analytical capability including DoE and structured experimental methodology.
- Able to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
